Ayad Alkadhi

Born in Baghdad 1971 and lives and works in the US. Ayad Alkadhi spent his childhood moving between England and the UAE. At the age of 23 and right after the Gulf war he left for Amman, Jordan and to Auckland, New Zealand. Then he settled in New York City where he graduated with an MFA from New York University.

Ayyad Alkadhi’s work employs  traditional Arabic calligraphy in the form of calligrams or figurative imagery, composed of interwoven words to create narratives within his work to present the current social  and political issues of Iraq and the Middle East.

Widow

He has exhibited in the Middle East, New Zealand, Europe and the US. His most recent exhibion include The Queens Museum, THe Austrian Cultural Forum, New York University’s Bronfman’s Centre, The Station Museum in Houston – Texas, The European Parliament in Brussels and Art Dubai in The UAE.
