One of a series of 11 rare self-portraits created by Andy Warhol has sold for $17 million ( double its pre-sale estimate ) for an anonymous bidder at a london auction yesterday (Wednesday 16th February 2011). The work had been in a private collection since 1974. Another work by Warhol ” Eight Elvises” was also reported that it was sold to a private collector for $100 million, making it one of the most expensive paintings.
